The new Commercial Director of the UK Ship Register, Dan Vivian, has been appointed at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Dan joined the team this January (2020) to work alongside Director Katy Ware in delivering the ambitious plans set out at London International Shipping Week, and as the UK Ship Register looks to play a more active role in supporting ship owners and wider industry.

He has a wealth of experience as Commercial Director working with major international brands across branding and customer proposition agencies, as well as running his own company. He will be leading the commitment for more engagement and partnership working with customers, developing the UKSR offering to match the industry’s operational needs.

The UK Ship Register has undergone a series of changes over the last six months as it strives to deliver a more customer focused and commercially aware service to its customers. It has already held the first Ship Owners Forum, launched a unique Flag Selection Model for its customers and is undergoing live testing of its new digital registration system.

Dan said, “This is a great time to join the UK Ship register. There’s a genuine opportunity to develop the flag. I look forward to continuing the work already started to make sure we’re using all the expertise from across the MCA to deliver an effective and progressive service to our customers to help to put the UK at the forefront of the Maritime sector.”

Last year the UK Ship Register was integrated into a wider team offering a breadth of UK Maritime Services at the MCA, under the helm of Director Katy Ware.

Katy said, “I’ve complete confidence that Dan is as committed as I am to driving forward the register’s customer focused approach and he is the right person to help us deliver our vision of being the best performing international flag.”
