When a craft is registered, any changes that would affect the Certificate of Registry must be notified to us at the UK Ship Register – RSS in Cardiff at the address shown below. If registered owner(s) change address we must be notified of the new address by letter.

Documents required to change ownership

Should you wish to change the ownership of the pleasure craft you have registered on the UK Ship Register, you will be required to submit the following:  

MSF4727 -
- Declaration of Eligibility for a Pleasure craft Adobe Acrobat PDF Document Icon (20Kb)
MSF 4705 - Title Document - Bill of Sale Adobe Acrobat PDF Document Icon (15Kb) and/or
MSF4743 - Builder’s Certificate Adobe Acrobat PDF Document Icon (12Kb)
  - Certificate of Incorporation (if a company is applying)
  - Statutory fees (details of our current fee structure are available on this website)
  - Old Certificate of Registry (or a written undertaking to return it within six weeks)



To change the name or port of a craft

Should you wish to change the name or the port of the pleasure craft you have registered on the UK Ship Register, you will be required to submit the following:

      Application to change name/port of craft
      Appropriate Fee (details of our current fee structure are available on this website)
      List of Ports of Choice
 List of Classification Societies



To change the engine details

Should the engine details of the pleasure craft you have registered on the UK Ship Register change, you will be required to submit to us the original receipt or invoice for the new engine (If the receipt or invoice is not available a letter from a classification surveyor is required) along with the appropriate fee, details of which are available on this website



To change the Tonnage/Dimensions

Should the tonnage, dimensions or use of the pleasure craft you have registered on the UK Ship Register change, you will need to notify us and submit the original Certificate of Survey, issued by one of our authorised surveyors/inspector of marks, along with the appropriate fee, details of which are available on this website



Registration renewal

A Certificate of Registry lasts for five years from the date of registration.  A renewal notice will be sent to the registered address within three months of the expiry date.  The form should be completed and returned to UKSR - RSS with the appropriate fee.  If you have not received a renewal notice, please contact the Part I team on the contact details below.
